Supporting Tweens and Teens: A 3-Part Series for Parents and Caregivers (Based on the work of John Gottman)
Session 1: Understanding Emotions—Theirs and Yours
Learn how adolescent brain development impacts emotional responses and behavior. We’ll explore common emotional triggers for both teens and adults, and how to recognize what’s underneath big feelings. Walk away with simple tools to help you stay steady while your teen rides the waves.
Session 2: Communication That Builds Connection
Discover strategies for creating open, judgment-free dialogue with your tween or teen. We’ll practice language that invites trust, de-escalates tension, and makes your teen feel safe, even during tough conversations. Learn how to listen in a way that makes them want to keep talking.
Session 3: Coaching Through the Hard Moments
Shift from managing behavior to coaching your teen through challenges. We’ll cover how to support emotional regulation, encourage accountability without shame, and model resilience. This session focuses on practical ways to guide—not rescue—your child as they learn to navigate their own life.
For best results, get plenty of sleep and come ready to share your experiences. You are welcome to repeat sessions as well, but attending one of each is a great starting place.
Schedule is rotating with the first of the series on May 14, June 4, June 25, and July 16
Charged $13 each week as a subscription. With subscription, you are welcome to come back and redo sessions as desired!
